Puff Pastry Christmas Tree Pizza Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack that is perfect for the holiday season. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a festive and tasty treat that is sure to impress your guests.
Unroll the cold puff pastry sheet on the lined baking sheet and cut out the Christmas trees using a cookie cutter.
Remove the excess puff pastry and spread the trees a little bit on the baking sheet.
Meanwhile, prepare the pizza sauce. In a bowl, add the plain tomato passata sauce, then add the ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ tablespoon of good olive oil and ⅛ teaspoon of dried Oregano (optional). Mix well and set aside. Adjust seasonings to taste.
Spread the tomato sauce on each tree with a spoon, then and the shredded Mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven, in the lower rack, for about 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
Notes
Make sure the puff pastry is thawed properly before use. Leaving it in the fridge overnight is the best way to thaw it evenly. If you're in a hurry, you can also thaw it at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
If you use fresh puff pastry, take it out of the fridge, wait 5 minutes then unroll it and cut out the tree shapes immediately. If it gets too warm, it will be difficult to move the cut-out pieces.
To save time, you can also make the Christmas tree mini pizzas in advance and freeze them (only if you're using fresh dough). Simply assemble the bites, freeze them on a baking sheet, and then transfer them to a freezer bag. When you're ready to bake them, simply add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
