  • 📖 RECIPE

🧾 Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry - Use store-bought all-butter puff pastry for the best flaky texture. Thaw it in the fridge before using.
  • Nutella - Smooth, creamy, and perfectly sweet chocolate-hazelnut spread. You can substitute with any chocolate spread or homemade hazelnut cream.
  • Egg (optional) - Lightly beaten for brushing the tops to give them a glossy, golden finish.
  • Powdered Sugar (optional) - For dusting before serving.

See the recipe card for quantities.

🍳 Substitutions

  • Nutella → Use any chocolate spread, peanut butter, or almond butter for a twist.
  • Puff Pastry → Use crescent roll dough for a softer texture.
  • Egg Wash → Replace with milk or melted butter for a golden finish.

🥣 Variations

  • Banana Nutella Pastries - Add thin banana slices with Nutella before sealing the pastry.
  • Nutella Turnovers - Fold the pastry into triangles for a classic bakery look.
  • Nutella Croissants - Roll the pastry into triangles, spread with Nutella, and shape into mini croissants.

🍽 Serving Suggestions

Serve these pastries warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of melted chocolate. They're perfect with coffee, cappuccino, or a glass of milk. For a decadent breakfast, pair them with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream.

❄️ Storage & Reheating

Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 4 days.

Reheating: Warm in a preheated oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes to restore their crispiness.

Freezer: Freeze unbaked pastries for up to 2 months. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.

💭 Recipe FAQs

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes! Assemble the pastries, refrigerate them on a baking sheet, and bake fresh before serving.

Can I air fry them instead of baking?

Absolutely - air fry at 350°F (175°C) for about 8-10 minutes or until golden and puffed.

Do I have to brush them with egg wash?

No, but it gives them a shiny, golden finish. Milk or cream works too.

⭐ Top tip

Keep the puff pastry cold until baking. The cold butter layers are what make the pastry puff and crisp beautifully in the oven.
