If you can't have enough coffee in the morning, this recipe is a perfect way to bring flavor (and caffeine) into your morning routine. The oats soften overnight and absorb the espresso, creating a texture that feels creamy and satisfying without requiring any cooking or prep in the morning. Finished with cocoa powder, it truly captures the feeling of tiramisù in breakfast form.

🧾 Ingredients

ingredients to make tiramisu overnight oats.
  • Oats - Use quick oats or old-fashioned rolled oats if you prefer more texture and bite.
  • Milk - Any milk works here, including dairy or plant-based alternatives. Use whole milk for the creamiest texture or oat milk for the mildest flavor.
  • Espresso or Strong Coffee - Gives the oats their classic tiramisù flavor. Make sure it's cooled before mixing.
  • Yogurt - Adds creaminess and protein. Use your favorite flavored yogurt. I love to use vanilla yogurt for the closest flavor to the classic mascarpone cream.
  • Maple Syrup or Honey - Lightly sweetens the oats without making them overly sugary.
  • Vanilla Extract - Adds warmth and rounds out the coffee flavor.
  • Cocoa Powder - Adds that classic tiramisù bitterness and depth.
  • Chia Seeds - I love chia seeds in overnight oats but they're optional. They add fiber and texture.

See the recipe card for quantities.

🍳 Substitutions

  • Vanilla Yogurt → Coconut Yogurt: For a dairy-free version with tropical flavor.
  • Maple Syrup → Brown Sugar: For a slightly richer sweetness.
  • Espresso → Decaf Coffee: Perfect if you want a lower-caffeine breakfast.

🥣 Variations

  • Chocolate Tiramisu Oats - Add chocolate chips for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Protein Version - Mix in vanilla protein powder for a more filling breakfast.
  • Nutty Version - Add chopped hazelnuts or almonds for crunch.

💭 Recipe FAQs

Do overnight oats need to sit overnight?

At least 4 hours is recommended, but overnight gives the best creamy texture.

Are tiramisu overnight oats healthy?

Yes, they contain oats, yogurt, and protein while still satisfying dessert cravings.

Can I make them without coffee?

Yes, though they will lose the classic tiramisù flavor. Decaf is a good alternative.

⭐ Top tip

If you want the oats to taste even more like classic tiramisù, dissolve a small teaspoon of instant espresso powder into the coffee before mixing. It deepens the flavor without adding extra liquid.
